Mr. Richard A. Smith is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Securus Technologies. Securus is a Dallas based company that provides a variety of services for inmates and correctional facilities, Police officers and public safety officials in the United States. Rick Smith became CEO of Securus in July of 2008. He was previously the CEO of Eschelon Telecom Inc.
Born into a blue-collar family, Smith’s family did not own their own house. His family had to live off of welfare to survive. But he was able to apply himself and got into college and has an exceptional accademic history that helps to contribute to his success today. He has an associate Electrical Engineering degree from Rochester Institute of Technology, a bachelor’s in engineering from Buffalo University and a Masters degree in Mathematics from The College at Brockport. He also earned an MBA from Simon Business School.
Rick Smith Securus leadership, has remained consistent, and even improved the service provided to the corrections facilities, technology that assists with incident management, communications, emergency response, monitoring, biometric analysis, investigation, public information, and inmate self-service.
Rick’s resume is one, full of success. He was CIO and held a controller position with Global Crossing North America Inc. He was president for Frontier Information Technologies. And he was vice-president of both Midwest Telephone Operations and Network Plant Operations Director. Rick got hired on at Eschelon in 1998. Rick has plans to see the company grow into more prisons in the States. And he is want make prisons more conveniently reachable. Rick Smith wants to take Securus to new heights and draw from his personal success in the past to help him achieve goals in the future. Securus wants to improve the quality of contact with loved ones. Rick acknowledges it is hard to be away from family, and his company hopes to be there to provide a quality service for the inmates and their families.
