Mike Baur has had a love for banking and finances since his early teenage years in Fribourg, Switzerland. Later, Mike pursued this passion and made it his career. He obtained his MBA from the University of Rochester in New York and his Executive MBA from the University of Bern in Switzerland.

Mike worked in the Swiss Banking Industry for over twenty years, working his up from being a commercial apprentice to becoming an Executive Board Member at a large, private Swiss Bank. During his twenty years, Mike was employed at UBS AG, which is a Swiss global financial services company headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland. The company provides wealth and asset management as well as investment banking services to private, corporate, and institutional clients from around the world. In Switzerland, these same services are also available to retail clients as well. Clariden Leu and Sallfort Privatbank are two other banks in Zurich where Mike found employment.

Mike’s entrepreneurial journey began in 2014 when he turned 39 years old. He quit his employment in banking to begin investing in start up companies before starting Swiss Start Up Factory (SSUF) with co-founders Max Meister and Oliver Walzer.

Along with his passion for banking and finances, Mike Baur also has a great passion for the youth, and spends a lot of time coaching and providing financial assistance to promising, and potential start up companies and organizations. That is the main focus of SSUF-to identify and support thriving digital entrepreneurs. The Factory has a three month Accelerator Program intended to provide coaching and mentoring in finances, and networking in entrepreneurship and investing. The program is suited for ambitious, young people who want to affect the world in a positive way with their innovative ideas. Baur led the Accelerator Program, and is in charge of financing and fundraising at Swiss Start Up Factory. At SSUF one gets a chance to collaborate with innovators and experts and to learn first hand the “Hows” and “Whys” of starting a business of your own.

Swiss Start Up Factory is independently financed, privately owned and is the first of its kind in Switzerland.
