Looking for the right lawyer is difficult. Often, people look for lawyers during stress times. Luckily, there are organizations like the Lawyer Referral and Information Service (LRIS), a trusted associate of the New York State Bar. Last year, New Yorkers got a more convenient way to find the right lawyer.

The LRIS launched a new online portal to help people find a practicing lawyer in their community.

This new service is a lower pressure way for people to find qualified lawyers. The online portal is available 24 hours a day to anyone living in New York. If preferred, the old LRIS phone service is still available.

The online service is easier to use. First, the person much fill out a confidential questionnaire, which details their legal needs and location. Next, a State Bar staff member will review the questionnaire and match the person with a qualified attorney who has an office in or near their community.

After being matched, the person it’s up to the person to request a consultation. Although all referrals are free, the first 30-minute consultation is usually $35. There are a few exceptions to this, which include personal injury, social security, and medical malpractice.

Jeremy Goldstein is one such lawyer that a New Yorker can potentially be matched with. He’s one of the top corporate lawyers on the east coast. He’s currently a partner at his firm, Jeremy L. Goldstein and Associates LLC. His firm handles mostly compensation committees, CEOs, management teams, and corporate governance.

Before founding Jeremy L. Goldstein and Associates, he worked at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen, and Katz. He’s also an avid philanthropist. He’s a board member for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro New York. He also works with the Fountain House and other organizations.
